Lila and the Mystery Cat
Lila lived in a quiet village surrounded by hills. Every morning, she loved sitting by the window with her cup of tea, watching the birds in her garden.
One day, she noticed a little black cat sitting near the flowers. It had shiny green eyes and a white patch on its nose. “I’ve never seen this cat before,” Lila said to herself.
The next morning, the cat was there again. It sat quietly and watched her. Lila opened the door and called, “Hello, little cat!” But the cat ran away.
Every day, the same thing happened. The cat came to the garden, sat near the flowers, and left when Lila tried to get close. Lila was curious. “Where does it come from? Does it have a home?” she wondered.
One afternoon, Lila decided to follow the cat. She put on her coat and waited by the window. When the cat arrived, she carefully stepped outside. The cat looked at her, then walked toward the hills.
Lila followed it through a small path, past trees, and up a hill. At the top, she found a tiny cottage with a garden full of flowers. An old woman was sitting on the porch, knitting.
“Hello,” Lila said. “Is this your cat? It visits my garden every morning.”
The woman smiled. “Ah, that’s Shadow. He loves wandering around. I think he enjoys your garden because it’s peaceful.”
From that day on, Shadow visited Lila’s garden, but now he let her pet him. Lila also made a new friend—the kind old woman who lived on the hill.
Lila realized the little cat brought her more than curiosity; it brought her friendship too.
