A city is a large town with many buildings, roads and people. Let's learn the most important words to talk about a city.
City Zones
In the middle of the city is the city centre. You walk along a street or a road. Some roads are one-way streets – you can only drive in one direction. Sometimes there is a big open area called a square. A park is a green place with trees and grass where people relax.

Anna: Excuse me. Where is the city centre?
Ben: Go straight along this street. Then turn left at the traffic light.
Anna: Is there a bus stop near here?
Ben: Yes. The bus stop is on the corner of this road and King Street.
Anna: Can I take the underground?
Ben: Yes. The train station is two blocks away. Take the tube to the city centre.
Anna: Is it far?
Ben: No. It's a short walk from the station. About five minutes.

Ben: There is a bakery next to the bank. You cannot miss it. Look for the sign.

Child: What is that tall building behind the church?
Mum: That is a sports centre. You can swim and play basketball there.
Child: Can I go to the library after the playground?
Mum: Yes. The library is next to the school. It's located in the old building with the lamp post in front of it.
Child: Where do I put this rubbish?
Mum: Put it in the bin next to the bench. Do not throw it on the ground.
Child: Look at that big red sign! What does it say?
Mum: It says "Fire station". That is where the firefighters work.
Child: And where is the town hall?
Mum: The town hall is at the top of the hill. You can find it in the city centre, opposite the concert hall.
Child: I love our city! It has everything.
Mum: Yes. Now go and play. But remember – look at the traffic light before you cross the zebra crossing!
